T-box genes encode transcription factors involved in the regulation of developmental processes. Defects in TBX3 are the cause of ulnar-mammary syndrome (UMS). UMS is characterized by ulnar ray defects, obesity, hypogenitalism, delayed puberty, hypoplasia of nipples and apocrine glands
